I didn't do my research first as to where to actually find a hot-fix tool, so on a quick trip to Hobby Lobby, I picked up something called the Creative Jewel Tool.
The package reads: The Creative Jewel Tool is great for adhering adhesive backed embellishments to fabric, wood, leather, paper, ceramics and much more. The tool comes with 3 points, tweezers, stand and instructions.
I'm getting ready to take it out of the package now and will keep you posted on my success!
I found a cute lazy-susan pen and pad holder in a brown pleather-like material to work with.
Fingers are crossed, please wish me luck. Here is an example of the flatbacks I bought, in light topaz.
I didn't go too flashy to start with, so we'll see how things go. :)
I'd LOVE to hear from any of you who have tried this!!

Lisa, I'm sure you with ROCK those crystals! Seriously.... can't wait to see what you make!
{Hugs!}
It sounds like the tool you purchased should work as well as the Swarovski Hot Fix tool, as they are both designed to do the same job. At least I hope that is the case.
We'll all be waiting to hear your review on this tool and to see how your project turned out. Have fun blinging things up. :)
I just purchased a similar tool. It works great on jeans. Metal barrettes... Not so much. Of course I researched it AFTER I purchased it only to find that Hot Fix stones aren't meant to be used on metal surfaces. Nothing blew up or anything. The bond just wasn't strong enough to create a lasting piece. Good luck with your project!
Sounds pretty! It'll be so fun to have a little bling on your desk! Can't wait to see!
