Watch or No Watch?

I've recently been thinking about going back to wearing a watch...

It's been many years, probably 4 or 5 since I have worn one. I am pretty good at keeping tabs on the time. I think I might have developed a 7th sense :)

On one hand I think it will be fun to design a watch band for it and on the other hand is the concern that I will rely on it too much and then it will rule me! (like coffee!)

I'd love to hear your thoughts on that and get some cool watch ideas just in case!

My first thought is to use a couple strands of stretchy cord with a variety of colors and maybe even a random pattern.

I once saw a freeform peyote watch in a magazine that was VERY cool, but I have never successfully pulled off freeform peyote. I have a tendency to want to stick with some kind of pattern.

I can't wait to hear your ideas!!

I made several fun watches/bracelets to sell at the artist market. I took 5 vintage ladies watches and put them together with large jump rings. In between a put on vintage beads and crystals with head pins. They turn out really fun and you can have one for LA time, New York Time, London time, and your time, ect. They sold really well and were around $120 each. They don't have to work either because it is just fun to wear.

I'd be so interested in a pattern. My watch straps always annoy me and just yesterday I pondered about making an elasticated one but I'm at a loss on which beads or size to use. Dying to see any inspired ideas!

(Love Denise's post, great fun)

I just couldn't bare to be without a watch. I hate not knowing what the time is. Is that weird?

Oh go for it! I wear my watch which is just a basic two toned metal that my husband gave me next to a bracelet I made with beads the color of his eyes. (stop rolling yours)-sappy I know!!! But because of this, I never stray... So by all means, if you don't already have a "ritual" have fun with all kinds of beads and watchfaces! Post the pictures, and I will wear them vicariously through you:)

I bought a watch one time that you could switch beaded bands. 6mm beads were strung on stretchy cord and attached to the watch with lobster clasps. The watches and bands were sold separately. I bought one band then made a bunch of my own in all different colors. It was fun to have a sparkly band to go with every outfit. I don't wear a watch anymore though.

I sent you an email - but thought maybe you'd get this response sooner - I have NOT received my book yet. I am hoping it will arrive in the next day or two.
As for the watch - I always do a double 'simple' strand of beads and a fancy clasp. DON'T use a magnet clasp though - it will stop the watch! Found that out the hard way! I used tubes on my last watch - really liked that one.
Have a great SNOWY day!

I don't wear a watch...haven't for years since something in my body electricity/chemistry seems to make watches spin faster and faster til they break.

My SIL wears watches and I'm intereested in making one for her! So any designs you have, I'm willing to learn!

I had that issue with wearing a watch too....so I rebelled by getting a watch that went backwards. That way at least I smiled when I had to check it. Marcia DeCoster was just showing off her Swarovski'd watch on her blog, definitely the way to go if you're at odds with wearing one.

I don't wear a watch either as I get obsessed with time. But I have made a couple for others. Yes! I actually did do bead embroidered bands using ultra suede. I dd get one from an Ohio Beader swap who did pearls and crystals for a band.

I have two watch faces that I have put off making bands for since I haven't been inspired by any great ideas for them. I will be watching with great interest here to see what anyone comes up with and posts.

Enjoy your blog!

Even though I wear a watch, I don't look at it a lot. But if I forget to put it on, I miss it. Strange, huh? My watches and purses tend to get a lot of hard use, so I usually stick to plain leather bands, and leave my beads to purely decorative uses! Good luck with the decision-making!
