I thought these "tiki" beads were adorable! They are so cute that just one would be fun as a necklace pendant with lots of other interesting "island" beads.
I have a CD called "Tiki Party" that I found at the local dollar store. I play in the background at work when I get stressed out! I need to bring that one home for inspiration when using these beads! Lots of drums and ukelele's! :)
I hope your week is going well. I have two days down and two to go until my vacation starts, YAY!! I know I can make it!

I agree! I am not a bead snob by any stretch of the imagination and it is often those things that were really inexpensive that have the greatest impact in my designs. I find that clearance or broken jewelry is the best way to make this happen. Those beads are cool. I haven't been to Big Lots in awhile and maybe I need to rethink that! Enjoy the day! Erin
I agree you can find some interesting beads at Big Lots...I was just there yesterday and found several things I am going to incorperate into my jewelery making, several of them were suposed to be scrap booking supplies, but I am going to find a way to use them for jewelery!
Those are so funny! I can see a set with earrings and necklace or bracelet. And nice beads don't have to cost the world.
Before I forget: have a wonderful RV vacation! And make sure to tell us about. It'll be fun (I can tell as a lifelong RVer and camper). For a long time I didn't know one could spend a vacation in a hotel. ;-)
Great beads...would be great as part of something summery!
I love to find great treasures that cost next to nothing...it adds to the appeal of bead shopping!!!
Have a great day...
Cheers

Drums and ukeleles...you crack me up, Lisa!
"Tiki." It's even fun to say.
I can see you now sitting under an umbrella at the picnic table with all your tiki beads and your CD Tiki Party playing in the background and you're surrounded by the soft glow of citronella candles. Sounds like a fun party to me.
sometimes party shops have things that you can make into jewelry, too.
I love to read all these comments! Sometimes, it seems like people only value things b/c of the price tag. Like can anyone really distinguish AAA grade gems from A grade? Without a loupe? And what about the acrylics that look just as good?
It's really about how you use them, which elements you incorporate to display them and the overall design that makes it look valuable or not. So now I want to see what you make with them!
You know, I never thought to go into Big Lots to look for beads. Though I have only been in once. I will have to start checking them out.
You inspired me to find a Big Lots. So shame on you, I ended up spending almost $20 on beads there! :) I found some nice metalized acrylic (perhaps? no tag) in cute shapes, plus some other things. I agree with Fanciful, it's not what you've got, it's how you use it! -- so to speak.
Beautiful and great beads.

Incredible beads. would be extraordinary as a feature of something summery! I love to discover incredible fortunes that expense close to nothing. It adds to the allure of dab shopping!!!
