Today's red lined furnace glass bead has such a nice, crisp vibe. I really love this type of bead, but I usually like to use just one per design so it retains it's uniqueness when paired with other glass beads. Furnace glass beads make great focal pieces, especially once you know the complexity of the work that goes into making them.
Furnace glass beads are made using traditional glassworking techniques from Italy. The same techniques that are used to make art glass objects using a glass furnace and kiln. These beads are also called cane glass beads and are cut from long glass rods.
They really deserve a place of distinction!
