Designer Italian Glass

Today's "bead" is an adorable glass pendant that belongs to a co-worker. She bought this piece recently while on vacation in Italy. We didn't have a chance to talk a whole lot about her trip, but she asked if I could find a bail of some sort that could be attached at the top of the piece to slide a chain or cord through.

I looked at a couple of local bead stores as I shopped for other items and thought I found the answer through an online bead shop, but that didn't work out as expected.

This is a gorgeous piece with sweet, summery colors. I just love the silvery-ness and the bright, shiny aqua and turquoise shapes. VERY vacation-like! I photographed the back of the piece as well because of the interesting color that doesn't seem to be part of the design.

If you know of any specific products that would work with this pendant, please share!!! :)

Thanks and have a great day!!

That is a beautiful piece...love the beachy feel of the pendant! Wouldn't have thought the back would be like that!

It will be interesting to see what you've found for a bail of sorts...
Cheers

Because I'm a seed beader, I would create my own bail with peyote stitch, and then probably add a few fringes. I would consider it reversible, and try to incorporate both colors - or a neutral to both - in the bail.
It's a great conversation piece, especially since it came from a foriegn country.

Just gorgeous. I can't decide if one should go with a simple sterling silver bail and let the piece stand out on its own or go with a more elaborate bail. Either will work, I think.

I like coolmoon's idea.
Or
The pendant can stand along with a fancy handmade sterling silver wire bail on black leather or rubber cord.
Oh I can see it now!

Objects and Elements has recycled silk sari ribbons that I think would look gorgeous with that !

Look at the seed bead bail pattern on Jean Powers website - it would look great on this piece.

So where did your friend go in Italy? I'm in Venice atm and love to look for glass, too.

All the suggestions so far sound very nice. I have couple more for your consideration.
How about tying on a hand dyed silk ribbon or cord using a simple lark's head knot? It would keep the focus on the beauty of the bead and you could use a different color cord, depending on which side you're wearing out.
Or another idea is to use a piece of Natural Brass (I'm so into Vintaj these days) and create your own bale by bending a piece of filigree. While I agree that sterling would look awesome with this piece, I have yet to find anything that does not look good with natural brass.
